Operating Procedures The
node is open to all hams. There are no access codes. Please ID before
and after using the node. To connect, simply key your transmitter
on the repeater frequency (standard plus offset). Using your touch tone pad, input the four digit node number that
you wish to connect to. To disconnect, key your transmitter and
touch tone 73. Please pause for 2 seconds after you key the transmitter
before you speak or enter touch tones. This allows the connection
to complete across the network and helps avoid dropping syllables
or words from the start of your transmission. It will also ensure
that touch tones are decoded properly. Please pause between transmissions to allow other stations to call or disconnect. Always disconnect the node when you are finished with your QSO. All connections will time out and disconnect if there is no local activity within 30 minutes. If the node is connected and you wish to connect to a different reflector or node, please ask if anyone locally is using the node. If there is no response, feel free to disconnect and connect to the reflector or node of your choice.

Information About the Node and Repeater IRLP node 3364 is linked to the W5MOT repeater located in Southwest Austin, Texas. The repeater frequency is 147.32mHz and requires a PL tone of 114.8. It is a Motorola MSR-2000 with an ACC RC-850 controller. It runs 30 watts to an antenna on a hill whose base elevation is 912 above sea level. The antenna is up 350 feet on the tower for a total of 1262 feet above sea level. It covers all of metropolitan Austin and beyond. The repeater has a backup generator that starts automatically if commercial power is lost. The node transceiver is an Alinco DR-135 running 5 watts and is located approximately 5 miles from the repeater site. There is an external fan that cools the node heat sink and is activitated when transmitting. The node computer is a Dell 450mHz CPU with 256 megs of RAM and a 40 gig hard drive. Operating system is CentOS Version 4. The IRLP board is version 3. Internet speeds are 17000kbps download and 485kbps upload. |
